Blackhole of Yoga
On you mark, Get set, Yoga!!! Wait a minute… Slow down!!
It doesn’t matter how fast we can flow, how graceful we look, or how we think we can predict the next move. Not important. We are exploring the inner and outer space of Yoga. All the wonders and mysteries of the unknown…
When we slow down we are able to find all those little moments that lie between Point A and Point B. For example, when we move from Standing Mountain to Forward Fold, let it last an eternity! or more! Search for what is hiding somewhere between the two poses… The unnamed, forgotten, neglected, unimportant moments… or so we think.
By slowing down, we may begin to realize that we are actively using and strengthening the Core muscles (abdominal and lower back). Using the breath. Lengthening the Spine. Opening the shoulders. Opening the heart.
For some of us, it isn’t nearly as much fun as Bang Boom Pow…Next Pose!!
but just give it shot… see what you think. The more we slow our roll from one pose to the next, we expand our understanding of a Yoga Practice. We learn to enjoy each moment (which I love to preach about!),
and understand the dynamics of our physical being.
Next time we are in class, let’s do more than transition from one pose to the next… explore the black hole… don’t let it suck away part of our Yoga journey. Enjoy the space in our practice that somehow disappears from our memory and yet lingers within our soul.
Happiness is a Journey.
