15 Minutes at a Time…

Laundry Dishes & Yoga
I realize the more time I have to do something, the more time I waste doing it. Sound familiar? I feel like I am ALWAYS doing laundry and dishes. However, I also acknowledge that I don’t particularly like these chores, I procrastinate and lolligag while doing these two dreaded necessities. When I’m in a hurry, I can whip these tasks out like nobody’s business and then viola, I’m done. Easy Peasy. If we did these chores with intention, like we had something more important to do… we could knock it out and spend less time wasted and more time enjoying the things that make us happy, like Yoga
Same philosophy at work. We dread doing things that are less than important, knowing it would only take a moment to do, but we let it sit unattended. Knowing that it’s there waiting to be done causes us stress. It’s not the kind of stress that gives us the anxiety attacks, but just that lingering, nagging stress. You know you have a thing or two sitting in this category. Even something on your Hunny-Do list. Yah, I saw your list… I know it’s there.
Set a timer, maybe your watch or one on the stove, to 15 minutes. That doesn’t sound too bad, right? Pick one nagging little item on your list, designate those 15 minutes to this one task. Do not get side-tracked. How much did you get done? Is it off of your stress-inducing list? Maybe you became inspired to reset the timer and knock out the next item on your list. Even if we did not complete the mission entirely, we made a dent. Maybe tomorrow we set aside 15 minutes to make another dent. When we take things one step at a time, we can get so much more accomplished than when we stress over it and actually get nothing done.
You know what’s coming next: Your Yoga Practice. I always hear “I was too busy to make it to class or practice at home”. Set the timer. Do any variation of the Sun Salutation that you can remember and if you have time to spare do a couple of easy stretches. It doesn’t have to be anything spectacular, something is always better than nothing.

I work a variety of jobs, mostly freelance, and sometimes go through very dry periods. Notably, it’s during those dry periods, when I’ve got loads of free time, when my home starts looking like a garbage dump. So, I can relate. Perhaps I’ll try the 15 minute thing…certainly sounds better than waiting till things start to smell…
LOL!! ;0) Lemme know how it works out!!
